East Haddam Family Olympics

  • Friday, July 10, 2009 (Rain date Saturday July 11, 2009)
  • 6:30pm-8:00pm @ Nichols Field
  • Elementary Students - Grades K-5

Open to all elementary school students (grades K-5) and their families Compete against your family in Olympic inspired games and activities.

Community Scavenger Hunt

  • Saturday, July 25, 2009
  • Starts 8:00 am - 10:00 am at Nathan Hale Plaza
  • Ends 6:00 pm at Chesthelm
  • Picnic follows

Adults and youth team up to explore local businesses and places of interest in search of specific items to collect. Instructions and list of items to be picked up from the Nathan Hale Plaza. Scavenger hunt ends at 6:00pm with a community picnic held at Chestelm Rehabilitation Center.

Ice Cream Social

Teen Jam Nights

  • Friday, July 17, 2009 @ Grange Hall on Town Street
  • Friday, July 31, 2009 @ Lake Hayward Pavilion
  • Friday, August 14, 2009 @ Grange Hall on Town Street
  • 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm
  • Students entering Grades 6-12

Teen Jam Night gives young people the opportunity to come together to sing, play or simply listen to music in a safe, supervised "open mic" atmosphere - from 6:30pm to 9:00pm. Students should feel free to bring a personal instrument and music. Snacks and soda are available.

High School Mini Golf Trip

  • Tuesday, July 21, 2009
  • Time TBA at Saybrook Point Course
  • Students entering grades 9-12

Transportation and 1 round of golf will be provided. We recommend that students bring $5.00 for ice cream. Space is limited. Call EHYFS to reserve a spot.

High School Bowling Trip

  • Wednesday, August 12, 2009
  • 5:00-9:00pm at AMF Bowling (Old Saybrook)
  • Students entering grades 9-12
  • $14 per student

Fee includes transportation, 2 hours of bowling, shoe rental, popcorn, soda and a slice of pizza Space is limited. Call EHYFS to reserve a spot.

"What's Happening With Our Kids"

Interested parents and community members are invited to host a gathering of friends and neighbors in your home to discuss topics affecting our children and youth, including drug/alcohol use, community watch programs, building assets with/for our children, etc. Groups are scheduled monthly.
