Who We Are

East Haddam Youth and Family Services is a private, non-profit agency that was started by a small group of high school students and adults working together to provide services for young people in our community. That history of building partnerships continues to be the foundation for the work we do today. EHYFS works collaboratively with our town government, school system, local and state police, civic and faith organizations, parent groups, youth and adults and several regional and state agencies. We are committed to offering programs and services at little or no charge so that cost does not prevent anyone from being able to participate.

EHYFS is dedicated to inspiring the potential of and promoting the positive and healthy development of youth and families. We strives to create and enhance opportunities which advance the quality of life for all youth and families within the community by providing a spectrum of prevention, intervention, and advocacy services.

Vision Statement:
EHYFS envisions a thriving, compassionate community where every child, adolescent, and family is empowered to reach their fullest potential—socially, emotionally, and academically. We see a future where all youth are surrounded by supportive relationships, equitable opportunities, and a strong sense of belonging, regardless of socioeconomic status or background. Through inclusive, collaborative partnerships with schools, government, law enforcement, community organizations, and families, we aim to build a resilient network of care that uplifts and sustains positive development. Our vision is grounded in the belief that when a community invests in its young people and supports families with dignity and respect, the result is not only healthier individuals but a stronger, more connected society. We are committed to breaking down barriers to access by offering programs and services at little or no cost, and we continually strive to be a trusted resource, advocate, and catalyst for meaningful change. By fostering prevention, offering compassionate intervention, and amplifying the voices of youth and families, we work toward a future where every member of our community has the opportunity to flourish.
