The East Haddam Local Prevention Council (EHLPC) is a community-driven initiative dedicated to fostering a substance-free environment for youth and families in East Haddam, Connecticut. Operating under the umbrella of East Haddam Youth & Family Services, the EHLPC collaborates with local schools, law enforcement, civic organizations, and residents to implement prevention strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and emotional well-being.
The Council's mission is to reduce the use of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and other drugs through education, support, and community action. Their vision is a community where all members feel connected, valued, and free from substance abuse. Key initiatives include the "Choose Wellness" campaign, which addresses mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, and depression, and the "One Voice" campaign, which encourages adults to model healthy behaviors and stay engaged with youth. Additionally, the EHLPC organizes events like Red Ribbon Week and provides resources to support families and individuals in making informed decisions about substance use.
